Towards the end of last year I was delighted to have one of my images selected for a book, ‘Celebrating our Oaks’ published by The Woodland Trust.
I took the picture a few years ago during a dawn wander around Hatfield Forest in Essex. Setting off on my walk the air was clear but over a period of an hour or so pockets of mist started to form. By the time I came across this tree the sun was starting to pierce what mist was left and I was struck by the way the oak dominated the scene. I chose to crop square feeling it best suited the composition, not to mention my preference for the square format.
